GIDEON contains 4 modules:

  • Explore – Use to information on diseases, historical outbreaks, and geographical distribution. It can be explored by disease name, drug, vaccine, microbe, or country.  GIDEON provides tools to identify over 2,000 pathogens and diagnose over 350 diseases.
  • Lab - A pathogen identification tool is available for bacteria, mycobacteria, and yeast
  • Diagnose - The classic differential diagnosis tool generates a ranked differential diagnosis powered by clinical and epidemiological variables, including travel history. Students are encouraged to use the interactive differential diagnosis tool, which suggests the most relevant sign, symptoms, exposure history, and laboratory tests that will lead to a diagnosis.  
  • Quantify:  Tools to generate epidemiological charts and outbreak maps. Users can generate charts to visualize data, comparing countries and diseases.
